Who are you: Introvert or extrovert?

I don’t know who is exactly categorized as an introvert or extrovert. So, I thought of writing my dilemma out to understand it better.

Do you feel comfortable being with a group of people or do you prefer solitude?

Are you a quiet silent type or more of a chatter box?

Are you more of an outgoing person or prefer being at home?

These are some of the questions that people asks to figure out who are you exactly in terms of being an introvert or an extrovert but can you really decide it with such questions?

I couldn’t because I feel there is much more than this in terms of your preferances and situations in life. Just revisit your three phases in life which changes your personality i.e. childhood, adulthood and old age. Does anyone carries the same personality throughout their lives?

No…!

Let me break this down for you!

You might have seen people who were very shy in their childhood or at school but a complete outspoken brash at college or some individuals who are the tagged ‘extroverts’ but loves solitude more. This is such a juxtaposition of two kinds of personalities. So, how will you categorize them now!

You might have seen quiet people who speak less but when they are around ‘their choice’ of humans, they might talk endlessly or the kind of ‘Introvert’ tagged individuals, actively participating in various activities or loves to travel. Isn’t it contrasting to their introvert tag?

If I take you through life incidents such as a transition from a college to a work place, Don’t we all tend to become a lil introvert? Just think about it! Workplace is different in terms of being yourself, you might love to talk a lot but could be misunderstood enough to be a gossip or your personality could intimidate others around you and be a reason of ‘unsaid rivalry’. Eventually, You might learn to pretend more than to be yourself!

Well, I think we all could be either of the two personalities but it depends on our life experiences, the people around us, the place we are at a specific time, the need of the hour at a time, our likings and preferences!

It’s a choice we all make by our free will!

“Change is the only constant”

Learn to be comfortable with the comment “You have changed a lot” because it’s often misunderstood in a negative context but it means you are evolving and that is the nature of life!
